Hi, I'm a travel journalist & editor, an audio journalist & producer, and a freelance webmaster & web 2.0 consultant.

This site is where I draw those different strands together.

And here (below) is some of the stuff I'm writing about at the moment...

World's longest golf course opens October

Kangaroo warning road sign on Australian outback roadThe world’s longest golf course is getting ready to open in the Australian outback.

To say the 18-hole, par 72 Nullarbor Links course is large, would be something of an under-statement - it's the size of Britain!

To play all 18 holes, golfers will have to drive between them. Each hole is located near a town, and they are stretched out over 1,365 kilometres along the Eyre Highway from Kalgoorlie in Western Australia to Ceduna in South Australia....covering two time zones!

Over the last few months teams have been landscaping the holes, laying the greens (synthetic grass) and adding trees. The course is completed and can be played now ($50.00 Aus per round) but the official opening will be marked with 4 day golf tournament in October.

Extreme Hotels

Park Hyatt hotel, ShanghaiHotels.com have put together a list of some record-breaking hotels around the world, whether they are the biggest, tallest, oldest, greenest or most expensive.

World's Tallest Hotel: Burj Al Arab - Dubai
Currently the tallest hotel in the world is the Burj Al Arab in Dubai (however, the Rose Tower, also in Dubai, will surpass it once opened in late 2009). Standing at 321 metres in height, the hotel is a self-rated 7 star hotel built on a man-made island 280 metres from shore. Burj Al Arab is arguably one of the most luxurious hotels in the world with its own Rolls Royce fleet, private shopper and helicopter landing platform. All of the hotel's 202 duplex suites, ranging from 170 to 780 square metres, are fitted with Versace bedspreads, full size Hermes products and come with a private butler. Naturally the hotel isn't cheap, with the Burj Al Arab also having some of the most expensive rooms costing up to US$15,000 per night.

Take no bags - rent your clothes on arrival

Zerobaggage is a new online service, promoting the concept of travelling without luggage. The idea is that you rent or borrow clothes at your destination from a network of zerobaggage suppliers and users.

If that sounds alarming at first, go for the 'rent' option. Select the clothes and sizes you want from the website and they will be waiting for you in your hotel room. When you leave, hand them back, or, buy them and have them stored in your zerobaggage locker for return visits.

The service is expecting to open in Canadian and Australian cities first.
