Ryanair Manchester flights dropped

Ryanair will close 9 of its 10 Manchester routes on 1st October and switch them to airports in East Midlands, Leeds Bradford and Liverpool.

The move comes after Ryanair and Manchester Airport couldn't agree on charges for the forthcoming season.

Crab fishing lore in Seattle

Edgewater Hotel, SeattleThe Edgewater Hotel - so called because it was built on a harbourside pier - in Seattle is offering an excursion to visit one of the king crab fishing boats that appeared in early episodes of the hugely popular Discovery Channel documentary series Deadliest Catch.

If you stay before 6 Sept, your room package (up to 2 adults & two children) includes a tour of the 104-ft Sea Star, which is currently docked near the hotel. Local crew members will act as guides, showing you around the boat and telling tales of fishing experiences in the Bering Sea.

USA Today (newspaper) demurly mentions that The Beatles once stayed at the historic Edgewater and used fishing rods from their room windows, but the 233-room Edgewater Hotel has a place in rock & roll legend way more raunchy than that.
